Coir is a by-product of the coconut industry, coming from the husks of coconuts after a harvest. When compared to peat, (the extraction of which can easily harm fragile bog habitats) coir is a more ecologically responsible choice. It will hold up to 10 times its weight in water, and does not shed moisture like peat moss. Easy to store bricks have a compression ratio of 5:1 - for expansion of the fibers, simply soak bricks for less than 30 minutes in a pail of water. Coconut coir is weed and pathogen free. It resists bacterial mold and fungal growth. We recommend an initial flushing with water to help eliminate any natural salts that may be present.

  • Composition: Recycled coconut husks; 2/3 fiber to 1/3 pith
  • Usage: Soil amendment, Potting medium, Worm bedding
  • Coconut coir has a more moderate pH, and will not repel water like peat moss.
